Did you know?Already, 80% of cases of diabetes occur in low- and middle-income countries; Africa is expected to see the highest increase in diabetes over coming decades. The Diabetes Strategy for Sub-Saharan Africa was launched in 2006. Its goals and recommendations span the continuum of care. The Strategy targets politicians, healthcare funders, planners, policy-makers and providers, all public sectors, NGOs, all relevant industry sectors and private business, and the community generally to act to reduce the public and personal cost of diabetes. It is being actively implemented by the IDF African Region. |
