Did you know?
In the 34 poorest African countries, the cost of diabetes per person is more than double the average income. In 2013, almost 4,000 deaths will occur due to diabetes in Guinea. Alarmingly, IDF estimates that more than three quarters of people with diabetes in Africa are undiagnosed.
In the Africa Region, 76% of deaths due to diabetes are in people under the age of 60. Unless major advances are made in the prevention of diabetes, the number of cases in sub-Saharan Africa is projected to more than double by 2035.
