Did you know?Mali is faced with a major nutritional, humanitarian and security crisis. An estimated 4.6 million people are at risk of food insecurity. Health centres in the north of the country do not receive regular medical supplies due to ongoing political and military conflict.1 These problems compound the already precarious conditions for people with diabetes in Mali, where people with diabetes spend on average 61% per capita income to manage their condition. The average life expectancy for a person in Mali who needs to take insulin is 30 months.2 1. World Health Organization. Humanitarian health action – Mali. www.who.int/hac/crises/mli/en/ |
