Progress in action

The UN Summit on Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) was a global breakthrough for diabetes. At IDF, we say the Summit elevated diabetes and related NCDs onto the global health and development agenda for the first time.

IDF and its sister federations of the NCD Alliance called for the UN Summit on NCDs to deliver on five priorities. We can now clearly see progress in all of these areas outlined below.

Ownership of the diabetes problem

Tackling risk factors

Progress in treatment and care

Historic commitments

International cooperation

Heading the global health agenda

What remains to be done?
