The prevalence of diabetes, particularly type 2, is on the increase. This rise is most marked in developing countries, including Malaysia. There is therefore an urgent need for strategies to prevent this 'epidemic' and early diagnosis of diabetes. There is also a need to ensure optimal management of the diseases, its complications and associated conditions.
To help address these issues, the National Diabetes Institute (NADI) of Malaysia has been organising the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Series annually since 2002. In 2008 the CPD was expanded as the 'Diabetes Asia' Conference (DAC) to emphasise the uniqueness of diabetes presentation and management in Asians.
The Diabetes Asia 2014 Conference aims to help improve the management of diabetes with emphasis on recent advances and the practical aspects of diabetes care.
