Healthcare professional training on GDM Model of Care

The first training for healthcare professionals (HCPs) on the IDF GDM Model of Care was held on July 13 and 14 in Chennai, India.  The two day train–the-trainer programme was dedicated to GDM and the implementation of the Model of Care in WINGS (Women in India with GDM Strategy) collaborating centres.

Twenty-two trainees from collaborating centres attended the session, represented by their multidisciplinary teams. Centres included Dr.Mohan’s Diabetes Speciality Centre (DMDSC), Seethapathy Hospital, Joseph Nursing Home, Kilpauk Medical college Hospital (KMC), Railways Hospital, Anuradha Maternity centre and Prashanth Hospital.

Opening words and welcome were given by Dr Mohan of the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF). More details on the WINGS project goals and objectives were presented by Dr Belma Malanda, Project Officer at IDF.
