Enhanced management of Type 2 Diabetes in the community: innovation in models of care

The General Practice and Primary Health Care Academic Centre at the University of Melbourne is delighted to host an academic satellite symposium of the World Diabetes Congress 2013. The symposium will feature:

  • Prof Kamlesh Khunti, Professor of Primary Care Diabetes and Vascular Medicine, Leicester University, UK
  • Prof Simon Griffin, Professor of General Practice, University of Cambridge, UK
  • Dr John Furler, NHMRC/PHCRED Career Development Fellow, University of Melbourne, Australia
  • Dr Irene Blackberry, Research Fellow in Promary Care, University of Melbourne, AUstralia

The program will focus on linked and integrated studies in the management of Type 2 diabetes in Primary Care and General Practice. Each of the studies provides different insights into the changing roles of the health professionals involved in Type 2 diabetes care in achieving improved outcomes for patients.  The work also raises questions for further research, policy and practice.
