The annual congress of the Société Francophone du Diabète (SFD - French-speaking Diabetes Society) , created 40 years ago, has become a forum for all those involved in diabetes, from doctors, para-medical professionals, researchers and students to industrial partners and patient associations. In recent years it has attracted more than 4,500 participants. Visitors come to listen, exchange information, learn more about the disease, make their debut as a speaker and simply meet up with French-speaking colleagues.
The Congress is also the opportunity for our scientific society to present prestigious awards and research grants.
SFD has also set up a foundation (Fondation Francophone pour la Recherche sur le Diabète) aimed at supporting large-scale projects. Paris in 2014 will offer an opportunity to find out more about the first programs that will be funded.
The scientific and medical work carried out in our Ile-de-France region with seven medical universities, numerous hospitals and research centers contributes substantially to improving the understanding and the treatment of diabetes.
