How can new technologies and social media empower people with diabetes?

How can new technologies and social media empower people with diabetes? This will be the question on debate during the IDF Europe Symposium to be held on 22 September 2013 at the 49th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) in Barcelona. The event will take place in the afternoon, from 14.30 to 17.00.

The symposium will build up on the mHealth Grand Tour bike ride from Brussels to Barcelona, which arrival is planned on 18 September 2013 in Barcelona, a couple of days before the EASD congress starts.

The symposium will be articulated around a varied panel of speakers. Paul Buchanan, founder and CEO of Team Blood Glucose, will be sharing his experience as a person with diabetes riding the Grand Tour and will be speaking about patient and community engagement online and through social media. He will be joined by health care professionals and representatives from the mobile industry to discuss how mobile technologies can help empower people with diabetes.
