Bordering the Indian Ocean in Southern Africa, Kenya sits between Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Somalia. Well-known for its stunning landscapes and wildlife, Kenya is made up of at least seven different ethnic groups, a mix that has sometimes caused political fracturing and violence.

Life for a Child support

Commenced support: 2011

LFAC is supporting the Paediatric Endocrinology clinic in Kenyatta National Hospital, run by the University of Nairobi’s Department of Paediatrics. Most of the patients have been buying insulin but often at the expense of buying food and paying school fees. The University is in the process of starting a diabetes centre of Excellence which will be used as part of the Pan African Training Programme in Paediatric Endocrinology run by the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE). 40,000 insulin syringes, 2,450 vials of insulin, and three boxes of quality diabetes education resources were shipped to Kenya in 2011.
