Tajikistan, a landlocked country in central Asia, lies between Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and China. A former Soviet state, Tajikistan experienced civil war 1992-1995, and remains extremely poor – lack of internal employment opportunities and arable land force many to travel aboard to work, and approximately 60% of the country’s food is imported.

Life for a Child support

Commenced support: 2011

LFAC began collaborating with NGO “Operation Mercy” and the Republican Endocrinology Centre in Dushanbe in early 2011 after learning there had been no insulin available in the public hospital service for over 1 ½ months and 455 known diabetes patients (children and youth <23 years) were in a dire situation. Insulin was shipped in July 2011 and another shipment in February 2012. Education materials were sent in December 2011.
