Azerbaijan hosts ISPAD workshop on diabetes in children

The Endocrine Centre in Baku, Azerbaijan - – Life for a Child’s partner centre in the country - recently hosted a workshop run by the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) and facilitated by the IDF Life for a Child Programme. Organised locally by Dr Gunduz Ahmadov and sponsored by NovoNordisk Azerbaijan and ISPAD, the two-day workshop was entitled “Diabetes mellitus in children and adolescents” and brought together approximately 30 health professionals from across the country.

The workshop was officially opened by the Health Minister of Azerbaijan on 14 February and featured three international Paediatric Endocrinologists: Dr. Kenneth J Robertson (UK), Professor Przemyslawa Jarosz-Chobot (Poland) and Dr Scott Williamson (UK). The programme was a great success, mixing lectures, case studies and workshops, and covering topics such as diagnosis and early management, diabetes in children under three and screening and management of diabetes complications.
