The IDF Life for a Child Programme is pleased to have received a generous donation from WillGolfBetter, a golfing company located in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Its owner, Mr Will Neel, contacted Life for a Child in December 2011. Will and wife Lee Ann had become aware of the Programme after the initial shock and adjustment period that followed the diagnosis of their eight year-old daughter Lexi with type 1 diabetes a year earlier.
"We were feeling sorry for ourselves" said Will, "until we visited the HOPE worldwide website and saw children with diabetes such as Kandola and many others (supported by the LFAC Programme). Our whole paradigm changed and we became even more thankful for the Children's Hospital of Orange County and all the wonderful treatment we received."
With deep personal insight into the emotional and financial challenges faced by families of children with type 1 diabetes, the Neel family set up an "Aim to Make a Difference - Lexi's Friends" page on their company website, informing customers about Life for a Child and committing US$0.33 for every item sold to the Programme. In December 2012 a donation of US$4,400 was made, which will be used to expand Life for a Child's efforts in Africa.
"It is our hope that through the "Aim to Make a Difference" page we can create more awareness and support of Life for a Child not only in the golfing community but in our personal community and the families living with diabetes that we have become a part of."
Life for a Child thanks the entire Neel family for their creative fundraising and advocacy on behalf of the Programme.
