About

Diabetes UK  is the leading UK charity that cares for, connects with and campaigns on behalf of people affected by and at risk of diabetes. We’re also the UK’s largest charitable funder of diabetes research.

Diabetes is the fastest growing health threat in the UK. Right now, there are 3.8 million people in the UK living with diabetes, including 850,000 people who have Type 2 diabetes but don’t know it.

They work to reduce the impact of diabetes on everyone. That means people with the condition, their families and carers, our health services and the taxpayer.

Main Focus

  • To provide information, advice and support to help people manage their diabetes
  • Their campaigns promote better diabetes care, and greater awareness of the key signs of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes
  • To promote healthy lifestyles and encourage people at high risk of Type 2 diabetes to seek early diagnosis and benefit from prompt treatment
  • Charitable funder of diabetes research

Activities

Some of Diabetes UK’s key activities include:

  • Healthy Lifestyle Roadshow
A one-stop shop offering information, advice and free Type 2 diabetes risk assessments.
Visiting towns and cities across the UK, the Healthy Lifestyle Roadshow is the first step to turning around the health of thousands of people each year
  • Diabetes UK Careline
If people have a question about diabetes the Diabetes UK Careline is here to help. The confidential helpline includes a team of professional counsellors who offer both practical and emotional support to people when they need it most.
  • Diabetes Professional Conference
One of the largest healthcare conferences in the UK, the event is run exclusively for healthcare professionals and scientists working in diabetes. It offers the chance to hear from inspiring speakers, hear about the latest research and keep up-to-date with the latest developments in diabetes.
  • Diabetes Week
Diabetes Week is Diabetes UK’s annual awareness and fundraising week. The only week of its kind in the UK, it takes place in the second week of June every year.
