The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) has announced the conclusion of a Corporate Partnership Agreement with Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries (Julphar).
The signing was celebrated at Julphar’s HQ where Ms Ann Keeling, CEO, IDF, and Mr. Mario Fetz, Director External Relations, IDF, were welcomed by HH. Sheikh Faisal bin Saqr al Qassimi, Chairman Julphar and Dr. Ayman Sahli, CEO Julphar.
The agreement will mean that IDF has another key partner in the Middle East region in the fight against diabetes and in efforts to promote better diabetes care, management and education.
Diabetes rates in the Middle East and North Africa Region are amongst the highest in the world. IDF estimates that in 2011, 32.6 million people are living with diabetes in the region and this is expected to increase by over 80% by 2030. This rapid increase is caused mainly by major economic and social changes in the region over the past three decades.
