Dr Graham Ogle, LFAC General Manager, recently travelled to Arusha, Tanzania, to participate in the inaugural African Diabetes Congress. Organised by the IDF Africa Region, the event brought together key stakeholders and leaders in the arena of diabetes and other non-communicable diseases, to discuss ambitions, priorities and actions for change within the Africa region.
IDF Europe was in Lausanne, Switzerland, to support the Junior Cup Diabetes, an annual international football championship for young boys and girls with Type 1 diabetes aged between 8 and 12 organized by Medtronic. Held from 24 to 26 August 2012 in the olympic stadium of Lausanne, this year's championship was supported by former football World Champion Christian Karembeu.
Since 2007, iconic buildings and sites all over the world have been lighting in blue - the colour of the blue circle for diabetes - to mark World Diabetes Day and raise awareness of diabetes. The lightings are testimony to the power of our combined efforts to alter the diabetes landscape and provide a strong visual element to attract attention to the diabetes cause.
