Focus on the front line: Diabetes South Africa [1]

Submitted by admin on Tue, 05/20/2008 - 11:05
Diabetes is emerging as a serious public-health problem in South Africa, particularly in the urban areas, where social welfare and health systems are precarious, and there is a lack of access to appropriate health information. Diabetes South Africa (DSA), established in 1969, advocates for the rights of all people with diabetes in the country. With over 7000 members, the organization has developed a wide range of activities, not only to support the health and well-being of people with diabetes, but in defence of societal health in the campaign to stem the tide of obesity-related diabetes in South Africa.
