Lessons from the learners - turning hope into action [1]

Submitted by admin on Thu, 10/15/2009 - 14:09
From time to time, family doctor and chief medical officer Alan Glaseroff interviews panels of people with diabetes in front of an audience of other people with diabetes, medical professionals, diabetes educators and clinical teams. The panel members are people who, having successfully overcome obstacles which at first caused them to struggle with their condition, are willing to share their stories. The panel members are asked to address questions relating to: their worst diabetes moment; the way in which they  overcame that time; how the medical care they received set them back, and how it helped. This report rounds up some of the most common responses and offers a number of lessons for healthcare providers from people who are learning to manage their condition every day.
