The IDF Education Foundation: promoting excellence in diabetes care [1]

Submitted by admin on Tue, 05/20/2008 - 11:05
The IDF Education Foundation was established in 1992 during the IDF Presidency of Wendell Mayes Jr. The Foundation is a practical benevolent initiative which, since its inception, has functioned exclusively in support of people with diabetes in developing regions. These countries constitute the bulk of the IDF membership; 60% of Member Associations are in countries with an annual GDP of less than 3500 USD per capita. The overriding objective of the Education Foundation is, by providing scientific and medical education on a charitable basis, to help to alleviate critical shortages in healthcare professionals in these low- and middle-income countries. The current Chair, Clive Cockram, and his predecessor, Pierre Lefèbvre, look back on the Foundation’s history and highlight some outstanding achievements.
