The Uganda Non-Communicable Disease Alliance (UNCDA) has taken a major step towards advancing a scalable model of integrated community screening and treatment for NCDs. On Saturday, 15 December, UNCDA and key partners organized the first ever Patient Empowerment Day for NCDs.
The country’s top NCD experts, including doctors, counsellors, screening specialists and educators, went mobile and took their services to Kasubi, a community on the outskirts of Kampala. Village health teams mobilized the local community to attend the day long event and learn about a broad range of NCD topics focusing on prevention and awareness.
