A group of 23 Young Leaders in diabetes from 21 countries across Europe met in Rogla, Slovenia, from 13 to 20 July to take part in the 2nd edition of IDF Europe Summer Youth Camp.
The aim of the camp is to get youth familiarized with different types of advocacy, campaigning activities and strategic planning methods at a pan-European level and to introduce them to the work of IDF Europe The 8-day programme included a variety of sports activities with a series of interactive workshops.
The camp was also an opportunity for young leaders to find out about the differences in diabetes care and daily-life realities across Europe, share their strategies on how to cope with diabetes and learn from their day-to-day triumphs and challenges. What's more, an inevitable result of the camp was peer-to-peer learning. Back in their countries, the young leaders are inspired and motivated to get more involved in raising awareness on diabetes and healthy living at national level with concrete projects.
