Some examples of diabetes initiatives supported by our Global Partners include.

Making a difference in diabetes self-management globally: Lilly Diabetes

As part of IDF’s partnership with Lilly Diabetes, the Diabetes Conversations Programme has provided more than 175 expert trainers and thousands of healthcare professionals in more than 105 countries with opportunities for networking and education to help people with diabetes learn how to engage in better self-management. The Conversation Map™ education tools are successfully implemented in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean and the IDF Centres of Education. The ongoing partnership between Lilly Diabetes, Healthy Interactions and IDF has made the Programme a success.
Holding key regional advocacy forums: Novo Nordisk

With support from IDF, Novo Nordisk organised and sponsored two key diabetes forums in 2010: the Diabetes Leadership Forum Africa held in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Diabetes Leadership Forum held in Dubai, UAE. These events brought together key stakeholders from each region in an effort to tackle the challenges presented by the burden of diabetes. The forums were also an important opportunity to discuss specific regional expectations from the upcoming UN Summit on NCDs.

Innovative 3C Study on type 1 diabetes (coverage, cost and care) for improved care in China: Sanofi Diabetes

As part of its global partnership with IDF, Sanofi Diabetes supported the launch and implementation of a very unique comprehensive study: the 3C Study on Type 1 diabetes (Coverage, Cost and Care) in China. This collaborative project between IDF and the Chinese Diabetes Society aimed to describe the coverage, cost and care of type 1 diabetes in two regions of China - Beijing and Shantou – in all three levels of care - tertiary hospitals, secondary hospitals and primary health centers. The 3C Study was successfully launched in Beijing, China, in July 2011 and completed in April 2012. Final results are being used to advocate for improved type 1 diabetes care in China and globally.
