Michelle Page Alswager

 This WDD hero is Michelle Page Alswager. Michelle lost her son Jesse at the age of 13 to unexplained complications of his type 1 diabetes. She and her son did some of the most amazing work for advocating for a cure for the disease. From fundraising thousands and thousands of dollars to speaking to congress in Washington DC they were a well-known name among the type 1 community in the USA. 

After Jesse passed away from his diabetes, Michelle has become a central hub for parents who have lost their children to the disease. She has also written a book on losing a child in an effort to help other parents cope. She has formed an online support group among all the parents and is the go-to person when a child passes away. Michelle has inspired many people with her motivation to look at those with this disease straight on and help us fight it.

Michelle is truly a WDD hero!
