If 2011 was a turning point for diabetes then 2012 was the year when the International Diabetes Federation kept up the momentum of the UN Summit on Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) to drive international action for change. It was the year in which IDF global campaigning helped secure the first government targets to tackle diabetes and NCDs, including the first target to halt the rise of diabetes.
Through the activities of IDF member associations and the broader diabetes community, decision-makers and the highest levels of government were reached with our urgent message demanding immediate action around the diabetes epidemic.
IDF's Annual Report 2012 showcases these successes and more, and provides an overview of work by the Federation's extensive constituency throughout the year to unite the diabetes world, shape the agenda and promote best practice.
