IDF Europe was in Lausanne, Switzerland, to support the Junior Cup Diabetes, an annual international football championship for young boys and girls with Type 1 diabetes aged between 8 and 12 organized by Medtronic. Held from 24 to 26 August 2012 in the olympic stadium of Lausanne, this year's championship was supported by former football World Champion Christian Karembeu.
Joao Nabais, IDF Europe President Elect, awarded the IDF Europe Fair-Play Trophy, which was won this year by the Dutch team. The football championship was won by Germany, who defeated Belgium by 4-0.
IDF Europe also received Christian Karembeu's support for the Pin a Personality campaign. Run by IDF Global, the campaign aims at raising awareness about diabetes and World Diabetes Day through the support of personalities from politicians to chefs, professional athletes and artists.
