  • The International Diabetes Federation European Region (IDF Europe) and the Federation of European Nurses in Diabetes (FEND), have joined forces to support this audit of diabetes across EU member states. The aim of this audit is to help establish a coherent EU strategy and policy that can provide a solution to the diabetes problem across the EU. The 2005 edition included the 25 countries of the EU of that date. The following edition was extended to the new membership (27 countries) and it was also extended to three European countries from outside the EU. The third edition includes all the European countries.
  • The country reports were requested by the IDF Europe board in order to improve its understanding of the status of diabetes in certain countries. The report is addressing the health systems, the professional bodies, patient organizations, governmental and private companies having interests and responsibilities in the area of diabetes. The reports offer a snapshot of the condition of our members at the date of the report, along with recommendations for improvement of their structure or activities.
