Staff exchange programme
As part of its strategy to strengthen its relationship with national diabetes associations, IDF Europe set up in 2011 a 'Staff Exchange Programme'.
The programme consists in inviting one of the staff members or volunteers of one of IDF Europe's member associations to come and work at the Brussels office for a 6-month period (July to December). This initiative represents a unique opportunity to work in Brussels as a “staff member on loan”, in a dynamic and international atmosphere. In return, IDF Europe gains highly valuable insight on the work of national associations at local level and on what member associations expect from the Federation.
Irene Salgad
o, from the Spanish Diabetes Association, was the first person to take part in this programme. This is what she has to say about her experience:
‘It has been an immense pleasure to work for IDF Europe: the wonderful team and the international atmosphere you breathe here have brought me new energy. It is an experience that definitely broadens your mind and gives you a better understanding of the world of diabetes. It truly gave me a new perspective of the world. Now I'm eager to put into practice all the things I’ve learned back in Spain!’’
