European Chronic Diseases Alliance calls for action after EU Summit on Chronic Diseases

The European Chronic Diseases Alliance (ECDA) has sent a letter to Health Commissioner Tonio Borg following up on the EU Summit on Chronic Diseases.

The ECDA expresses its gratitude for the Summit and acknowledges Commissioner Borg's enduring commitment to the promotion of health in Europe.

ECDA welcomes the Commission’s initiative to organize the Summit, which we hope to be a step towards an EU framework to allow the EU to make a significant impact in reaching the United Nations goal of a 25 percent reduction in premature mortality from chronic diseases by 2025.

On 22-25 May this year, EU citizens from across the 28 Member States will elect a new European Parliament, comprising 751 members (MEPs) to represent their interests from 2014 to 2019.
