2013 Staff Exchange Programme: call for applications

For the 3rd consecutive year, IDF Europe is continuing its Member Associations Staff Exchange Programme.

If you are working for a member association, you can apply for this unique opportunity to join the IDF Europe staff and work in Brussels as a “staff member on loan”, in a dynamic and international atmosphere for 6 months (July to December 2013).

New clinical trial uses innovative eye drop treatment to combat diabetic retinopathy

A clinical trial to evaluate a new therapeutic treatment using eye drops for the early stages of diabetic retinopathy started this week, researchers announced. A group of leading European ophthalmologists, endocrinologists and researchers have gathered together under EUROCONDOR, the European Consortium on the early treatment of diabetic retinopathy, and will conduct the clinical trial in 11 clinical centres across the EU.

IDF Europe announces new partnerships

The International Diabetes Federation European Region (IDF Europe) announced the conclusion of two Corporate Partnerships with pharmaceutical company Janssen and medical devices company Ypsomed.

Call for Youth Leadership Camp venue

For the 3rd edition of its Youth Leadership Camp to be organized during the summer of 2013, IDF Europe has published a call for European Diabetes Associations to propose a camp venue.

EMA recommends approval of higher-strength insulin

The European Medicines Agency’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) has recommanded to give marketing authorisation to insulin degludec, a new basal analogue insulin for the treatment of diabetes mellitus in adults. It is introduced in a pre-filled pen in two formulations – 100 units/ml and 200 units/ml.
