The scientific programme was made up of 6 streams and consisted of a total of 224 hours of sessions. These took place over 3.5 days in 10 parallel session halls.

A total of 8486 participants were recorded at the IDF World Diabetes Congress Vancouver 2015, held from November 30 to December 4 2015.

Scientific Programme

The scientific programme of the IDF 2017 Congress will take place over 4 days with the aim of delivering worldwide diabetes expertise through varied and innovative sessions. It will consist of over 160 hours of sessions featuring 250 high-level speakers.

Abstract submission closed on 21 April. Abstracts will now undergo peer-review and final selection results will be sent by mid-July.

Join us at the IDF Diabetes Open Day!

From November 30 to December 4, the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) brings the World Diabetes Congress (WDC), the premier global diabetes event, to Vancouver.

For the first time IDF will extend the Congress to the general public and invite citizens of Vancouver to an awareness day on Friday December 4 from 13.00 to 18.00 in the Vancouver Convention Center. The event will be co-hosted by the Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA) and will include sessions focussed on diabetes care and prevention. Entrance is free and no registration is required.

Join us on Thursday 3 December for the IDF 5K!

The IDF 5K brings together IDF World Diabetes Congress delegates and citizens of Vancouver to emphasise the need for increased physical activity to help prevent diabetes and diabetes complications. This activity provides participants with the opportunity to raise public awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle in preventing type 2 diabets and managing all types of diabetes.


In 2015, the International Diabetes Federation brought the World Diabetes Congress to Vancouver, Canada.


The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) provides complimentary access to its World Diabetes Congress and the WDC media centre to accredited members of the media only. No individual(s) representing a company, organisation or public relations firm will be allowed into the media centre.
