Scientific Programme

The scientific programme of the World Diabetes Congress 2015 will showcase the latest advances in diabetes research, epidemiology and management. By bringing together 350 international speakers the congress will provide delegates with 220 hours of scientific sessions as well as over 1000 posters.

Basic and Clinical Science   
  • describe some of the latest advances in diabetes research and clinical practice in the real world
  • describe in detail the underpinnings of current clinical research and be able to apply this to the interpretation of clinical data
  • apply the most up-to-date evidence-based research to clinical practice
Diabetes in Indigenous Peoples
  • describe some of the latest research in Indigenous healthcare
  • design better healthcare provision for Indigenous peoples based on an understanding of their needs and the existing care gaps
Education and Integrated Care 
  • describe how people with diabetes effectively manage their own care and the role the healthcare professional plays in supporting this
  • develop improved training for multidisciplinary healthcare providers
  • utilise tools that enable patients to better self-manage their diabetes and their health in general
Global Challenges in Health 
  • describe the multifactorial health challenges in a globalised 21st century world
  • translate these challenges into local health policy
Living with Diabetes   
  • recognise the multiple aspects of living the best life possible with diabetes
  • be a powerful enabler of positive self-care
Public Health and Epidemiology 
  • recognise the crucial importance of continuing to work on prevention and how to overcome modern challenges to metabolic health
  • describe how current epidemiological data can be used to help shape future policy and healthcare implementation
