I have had the amazing opportunity to watch, listen, play and grow with Chloe Vance, founder of Connected In Motion, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as a young adult. I met Chloe almost 4 years ago shortly after struggling through some life changing challenges associated with diabetes. Chloe's passion for living well and seeking ways to pursue her grandest dreams really helped me realize that this is my life and I can choose to live in pursuit of my dreams. This autumn I will complete my first Olympic Distance triathlon, an athletic goal I couldn’t achieve without her inspiration. According to me she
Chloe wanted as much information as she could get her hands on in terms of pursuing her dreams in the best way she possibly could. As far as I can tell, if it involves the outdoors she has or is willing to give it a try. What I personally find so magnetic about her is her unbelievable willingness to accept the daily challenges we all face and still carry such passion for all of the things she is in search of. I would imagine that she may feel the burnout that occasionally creeps into our lives, but the strength she presents to fellow people with diabetes is nothing short of amazing. Without fail she has always responded to questions or statements of mine in status updates with insight, compassion, sincerity and encouragement.
She has touched the lives of countless type 1's and their families in ways that my words cannot do justice to. When I think of heroes in my life, I think of the people that I look to for support to overcome any challenge. If it is in any form related to living well with diabetes you can bet I will look at Chloe! She has made my life with diabetes better and for me is truly breathing fresh air into diabetes education!
