The 2011 campaign features a new initiative aimed at engaging the grassroots diabetes community and showcasing global unity for the diabetes cause in this special year for diabetes and other non-communicable diseases. Our World Diabetes Day Participative Video Campaign consists of an online platform displaying short videos of individuals around the world showing and telling us how they are 'Acting on Diabetes. Now.'
Join the campaign by submitting a 5 to 10 second video showing your support for the global movement against diabetes. Taking part is easy:
- Visit http://participativevideo.worlddiabetesday.org and get inspired by seeing examples of videos that have already been contributed.
- Think of a short message that best conveys how you or your friends and family are acting on diabetes (e.g. I act on diabetes by walking to work every day).
- Film yourself saying the message. No need for a fancy video camera, even a mobile phone or webcam will do. Don't forget to use the blue circle, the global symbol of diabetes, in your video. You can make your own or just draw it on a piece of paper or on a part of your body. Download the blue circle.
- Go to http://participativevideo.worlddiabetesday.org and follow the simple instructions to submit your video.
All languages are welcome. We are also offering a free registration to the World Diabetes Congress in Dubai in December to the video that receives the most 'likes'. Start sending us your videos now!
