I’m Franco Giraudo, a medical doctor with type 1 Diabetes Mellitus since the age of 7. I’m now 28 years old and live in Santiago of Chile, SACA region.
I’ve been part of the IDF YLD Programme since 2013, was Regional Chair Elect for 2014 and 2015, and will serve as Regional Chair for 2016 and 2017. Professionally dedicated to childhood diabetes, I am currently the Medical Adviser of the Fundación Diabetes Juvenil de Chile, my Member Association. I have had the opportunity to participate in camps in two organizations in Chile, one in Ecuador and one in Italy, as an assistant, peer educator, doctor and medical director.
My area of interest is in diabetes education, my projects have been devoted to this, such as the training of educators, young leaders and undergraduate and graduate health professionals in the area.
During the period 2016 and 2017, along with the rest of the SACA region, I will work to identify problems and needs of each member country, and educate and disseminate diabetes knowledge.
