The IDF World Diabetes Congress 2022 – onsite and online – was held in Lisbon, Portugal from 5 to 8 December 2022. The four day congress attracted 5429 international delegates (3512 onsite and 1917 online) and featured over 250 invited speakers from around the world. A dynamic programme, spread over eight streams, provided onsite and online participants with the latest research, treatments and tools to manage, treat and prevent diabetes.

Overall feedback on IDF 2022 was very positive and participants highly appreciated the opportunity to meet again in person. The congress layout featuring the IDF Café, Diabetes Spotlight and the Global Village created inviting spaces to boost conversations and exchange.

The IDF Diabetes Complications Congress 2018 in Hyderabad, India held on 25-27 October 2018 was the first in a new series of live educational events developed by IDF to tackle the issues around diabetes complications.

IDF 2018 featured over 100 invited speakers from around the world; a dynamic programme, spread over seven streams, that provided participants with the latest research, treatments and tools to limit and treat diabetes complications; and a lively exhibition showcasing the latest advances in diabetes complications care and technology.

The scientific programme was made up of 6 streams and consisted of a total of 224 hours of sessions. These took place over 3.5 days in 10 parallel session halls.

405 speakers from 50 countries presented at the Congress. The sessions were chaired by 205 people from 36 countries.

2104 abstracts were submitted for peer review. These were reviewed by 229 peers from 44 countries.

A total of 13.858 participants were recorded at the World Diabetes Congress 2011 held from 4 to 8 December in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The IDF World Diabetes Congress 2009 was held in Montreal, Canada. The five-day congress attracted 12,000 international delegates to access the latest data and opinion from the scientific community, discuss key issues in diabetes care, and exchange information on how available resources can best be used to tackle the global diabetes problem.

Delegates left the congress energized by the experience and ready to take key learnings back to their countries to see how local adaption and implementation can best benefit people living with diabetes and those at risk.
