Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2004.

Member of YLD since 2016 (YLD Candidate).

I was diagnosed with diabetes type 1 when I was sixteen and it was really a big shock for me. But I felt also a big opportunity to help the other children and young people with diabetes. Now I work primarily with children and adolescents with diabetes. I help with organization of the summer camps for children and adolescents with diabetes and I have been one of the camp leaders since 2011.

My project: Me and my friends established the new organisation which help children and adolescent living with diabetes. We organize trips and tours in the mountains and also diabetes camp for children from 6 to 17 years old. In this year will our camp take place in July and there will be 40 children with diabetes. I am also one of the reporters of magazine about diabetes http://www.diastyl.cz/cz/home/ I write articles about living with diabetes in abroad. That means I translate interviews with other young leaders which is really interesting job. This year I start my new project – I organize event for the young people with diabetes in age of 18 to 30 years because in the Czech Republic there is almost nothing for this age group and I think that is very important to change it. These young people with diabetes can work with a children or adolescents, they have a lot of energy and enthusiasm for this work but they need a leader. I think that I can learn in this programme how to teach young people with diabetes.
