Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2013

Member of YLD since 2017 (YLD Candidate).

Currently completing the sixth form level of secondary school and is pursing an associate degree in law. After completing my associate degree I would go on to complete my BSc Degree in Law. Then to further my studies in becoming an attorney at law. I was diagnosed with type one diabetes in 2013 and have been living with it for 5 years. When I found out I have T1D it was very depressing at first to cope with it but with the support of the Guyana Diabetic Association and especially Mrs. Glynis Beaton, living with diabetes became less complicated as the days went by. Through that association I was able to become better at managing my diabetes. Currently I'm the Vice President of the Young Leaders In Diabetes Guyana.

My Project: my project under the name "DiaSweeties" will aim to spread awareness to all parts of Guyana. Many people in Guyana are of the opinion that you get T1D from eating too many sweet, so with the help of the Young Leaders in Diabetes Guyana we would venture out into a number of health fairs, exhibitions and health talks to sensitize the public on T1D.
