Latest Diabetes Voice issue highlights youth supported by Life for a Child

The lastest issue of Diabetes Voice, the quarterly magazine of the International Diabetes Federation, features the story of Mohammed Hamoud, a 19 year-old youth with type 1 diabetes from Zanzibar, supported by the IDF Life for a Child Programme.

In a new section entitled 'Voices of type 1 diabetes,' Mohammed tells of his diagnosis at the age of two - the first child in Zanzibar to be diagnosed with type 1 diabetes - and how he has grown up living with diabetes since then.

"Now I am attending college, and I feel like a normal person. No one mistreats me and my friends help me when I need assistance. I love sports and I play football, swim and try to do 100-150 push-ups a day because exercise helps me control my diabetes."
