Mobilise Global Resources for Diabetes

The Political Declaration from the UN Summit on NCDs states that resources for diabetes and NCDs are not 'commensurate with the magnitude of the problem'. However, no concrete financial commitments were made at the UN Summit and diabetes and NCDs remain grossly underfunded.

These four diseases receive less than 3% of the USD 22 billion Official Development Assistance (ODA) spent on health, yet they represent 60% of the global burden of disease. The agencies which determine development funding - including major bilateral donors, the OECD and the World Bank – hold a ‘policy ban’ on funding NCDs.

In 2012 IDF and the NCD Alliance launched a global campaign targeted at the bilateral and multilateral donors to alleviate the funding gap.
