IDF welcomes recognition of NCDs in WHA COVID-19 resolution

19 May 2020

The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) welcomes the adoption of a COVID-19 Resolution at the 73rd World Health Assembly.

The text, which was supported by 122 Member States in a negotiation led by the European Union, proposes a unified response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and recognises that people living with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) – including diabetes – require particular attention in the response.

Member States now need to take the recommendations contained in the Resolution to the national level, and implement them in their COVID-19 response plans.
