GCCH issues statement on Draft Resolution to strengthen WHO Preparedness for and Response to Health Emergencies

The Global Coalition for Circulatory Health (GCCH, of which IDF is a member) has issued a statement on a Draft Resolution to Strengthen WHO Preparedness for and Response to Health Emergencies, which is expected to be adopted at the 74thWorld Health Assembly in May.
The European Union is currently leading Member States’ negotiation of the Resolution text. The GCCH statement is in response to a call for views on the Resolution from Non-State Actors. The statement asks Member States to:
Include NCDs in WHO’s response to health emergencies
Develop practical guidelines and recommendations to protect vulnerable people affected by NCDs
Develop strategic responses and joint operational plans to ensure the timely treatment of cardiovascular diseases (including diabetes)
Tax unhealthy commodities to finance current and future health emergencies
