UAE Ministry of Health promotes KiDS programme at Expo 2020 Dubai

03 March 2022

On 4-7 March, the French Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai will feature several activities and events promoting the IDF Kids and Diabetes in Schools (KiDS) programme.

The activities are organised by the Ministry of Health and Prevention of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Education and Sanofi.

KiDS was first implemented in UAE in 2016 to help students across the country learn about the symptoms of type 1 diabetes and the healthy habits that can help prevent type 2 diabetes. The programme has engaged 57,284 students, 4,117 teachers, 3,045 parents and 188 school nurses in 183 schools throughout UAE.

KiDS activities at Expo 2020 Dubai will include an entertaining game featuring the official KiDS  mascot “Tantoon” and giant screens with information about diabetes. All children visiting the Pavilion will have the opportunity to collect stamps and be rewarded with a bag full of gifts and prizes.

“Organizing such activities is part of the Ministry’s awareness initiatives aimed at fostering preventative behaviours among children and securing their psychological and physical safety. We are glad to organize the KiDS programme with students. The programme highlights the importance of creating a positive environment helping children with diabetes manage their condition,” said HE Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector at the Ministry of Health and Prevention.
