FIP publishes equivalence tables for medicines registered in Ukraine

22 April 2022

The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) has published tables of equivalence between medicines registered in Ukraine and those available in other countries. The aim is to facilitate the provision of pharmaceutical care to refugees from Ukraine and support healthcare professionals providing this care.

According to the United National Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the current war in Ukraine has led over 5 million people living in the country to seek refuge in other countries. In addition to a safe place to live, refugees require healthcare and the use of medicines, often for the continuation of treatments in people living with chronic or long‐term conditions.

Priority has been given to chronic non-communicable diseases that require continuation of treatment, with the inclusion of medicines for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, mental health, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. The tables include the ATC classification and INN of selected medicines, their name in Ukrainian (both in Cyrillic and Latin alphabets), brand names, dosage form (in both languages) and information about the manufacturer.
