IDF launches partnership with Merck to help tackle the global type 2 diabetes epidemic

13 November 2017

The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) has launched a partnership with Merck to implement education and communications activities emphasizing the importance of preventing Type 2 diabetes.

The first activity, available on the IDF School of Diabetes, is a free certified online short course for healthcare professional (HCPs) on prevention of type 2 diabetes. The course provides the latest evidence-based clinical recommendations and an overview of the impact and levels of prevention of type 2 diabetes, treatment options and guideline recommendations. One CME credit from the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) is awarded for completion of the course.

“The world is facing a rising prevalence and incidence of type 2 diabetes, due to limited knowledge on prevention and insufficiently informed self-management. Healthcare professionals have an important role to play to tackle this issue. Our self-paced online short course aims to enhance their knowledge and provide evidence-based strategies for the prevention of type 2 diabetes,” said Dr. Shaukat Sadikot, IDF President.
