The IDF South and Central America Region currently represents 42 national diabetes association in 19 countries and territories. Information about IDF SACA members can be viewed by clicking on the country links below.
An IDF Centre of Education is a diabetes institution/member organization designated by IDF to form part of an international collaborative voluntary network to initiate, coordinate, facilitate and conduct high quality education for multidisciplinary healthcare professionals in diabetes and other related chronic diseases.

Uruguay is one of the 19 countries of the IDF SACA region. 425 million people have diabetes in the world and more than 26 million people in the SACA Region; by 2045 this will rise to 42 million. There were over 152.800 cases of diabetes in Uruguay in 2017.
