The IDF South and Central America (SACA) Region includes 20 countries and territories, currently representing 44 diabetes organizations in 19 countries.
According to the IDF Diabetes Atlas 8th Edition, an estimated 26 million adults aged 20-79 years were living with diabetes in the IDF SACA region in 2017, representing a regional prevalence of 8%. Some 40 % of diabetes cases in the region are undiagnosed. The vast majority (84.4%) of adults with diabetes in the region live in urban areas.
