We are looking to hire a full-time Junior Professional Officer to join our Advocacy team.This job will be under a fixed-term contract which could potentially be extended.
The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is an alliance of over 230 national diabetes associations with two million members in more than 164 countries and territories, IDF has been at the vanguard of global diabetes advocacy for over 50 years.
This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in advocacy and communication with a leading global not-for-profit.
The JPO will be working from home and does not necessarily need to be located in Brussels (but should be based in Belgium).
Purpose of role
This role is responsible for supporting the coordination and implementation of the IDF Insulin at 100 campaign and IDF Advocacy activities, including engagement with the Young Leaders in Diabetes and Blue Circle Voices networks.
Key reponsibilities and activities
CENTENARY OF INSULIN
Help drive the collection of written and video testimonials from people living with diabetes
Help create and curate content to be made available on www.insulinat100.org to mark the centenary of the discovery of insulin
Support the IDF Insulin at 100 award. This is a prize that will be presented during the IDF World Diabetes Congress to the diabetes representative organisation judged to have achieved excellence in action to improve the lives of people living with diabetes.
Support the preparation and logistics of IDF events (online and face-to-face), from coordinating speakers to overseeing technical details
Collaborate in the preparation and drafting of advocacy materials (key messages, policy papers, briefs, letters to policymakers, etc.)
Collaborate with the Communications department to disseminate advocacy messages via IDF’s website, social media, newsletters, and campaigns (including World Diabetes Day)
Translate advocacy messages and materials into Spanish and/or French as required
Support in research into key diabetes-related topics
Support in drafting talk tracks and presentations for IDF representatives
Coordinate communication with IDF networks of people living with diabetes to secure their participation in IDF activities
Provide feedback to Young Leaders in Diabetes to develop their individual national projects
Research on topics and draft consultations for the IDF networks of people living with diabetes
Coordinate the online training sessions for IDF networks of people living with diabetes
Skills, competencies and experience
Bachelor / Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant field of study such as: policy, advocacy, communications, global health, development or similar area
Good skills in programme coordination
Excellent research and analysis skills
Good communication skills, and ability to work effectively with external partners and stakeholders
Excellent writing and editing skills in English
Native or near-native level Spanish and/or French would be advantageous
Interest in acquiring new skills (advocacy on social media, document layout, video editing)
Knowledge and/or interest in global health, development and the WHO/UN system
Experience in webinars would be useful
Ability to adopt IDF’s ethics and beliefs
