On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, the Institute for Health and Food Safety of Zenica Doboj Canton, Department of School Hygiene, in collaboration with the Alliance of Diabetics Associations of Zenica Doboj Canton and the Association of Diabetics "Diabet" Visoko will organize a number of activities:
1.On 2nd November 2015 in Visoko, Zenica Doboj Canton, Bosnia and Herzegovina theatre performance "Blue Circle", Bosnian National Theatre Zenica, Children's, Youth and Puppet stage will be played. The show is about a girl who discovers she has diabetes, and trying to comfort her worried parents, and even thinks of getting away from home. The girl in the dream goes into the magic forest where various animals explain everything about diabetes to her. The play is intended for children aged 7 to 10 years. The show has the task of breaking down prejudices about children with diabetes, and is intended for healthy children, teaching and other staff in schools, as well as for the patients themselves. The show will be played organized for primary school students, with special emphasis on those classes attended by children with diabetes.
2.On 3rd November 2015 in Tešanj, Zenica Doboj Canton, Bosnia and Herzegovina theatre performance "Blue Circle", Bosnian National Theatre Zenica, Children's, Youth and Puppet stage will be played.
3.On 3rd November 2015 in Visoko, Zenica Doboj Canton, Bosnia and Herzegovina promotion of the "Manual on diabetes in children for teachers and pedagogues" by Diana Štimjanin-Koldžo, MSc, MD and Salem Alajbegović, PhD, university professor will be held. The publication was printed in the framework of the "United changing diabetes" where sponsors were Health Insurance Institute of Zenica Doboj Canton and Novo Nordisk Pharma.
4.Institute for Health and Food Safety of the Zenica-Doboj Canton and the Alliance of Diabetics Associations of Zenica Doboj Canton, in cooperation, will carried out campaign to mark World Diabetes Day 14th November 2015 in all 11 municipalities and 1 city of Zenica Doboj Canton, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The campaign aims are: raising the citizens awareness of a need for regular controls by organizing public blood glucose test, and education about the importance of healthy food through health educational materials (posters, leaflets, brochures). It is expected that about 5,000 people will measure the blood sugar level.
All activities will be followed by local and national electronic and print media.
